Two new winners for Space Blues

Baltic Fleet and Kalokalo both score at Yarmouth

Exciting first-season sire Space Blues added two new winners to his record at Yarmouth on Thursday, 18 September with Baltic Fleet landing the nine-furlong maiden on just his second start, and Kalokalo comfortably taking the nursery over a mile.

The George Boughey-trained Baltic Fleet was placed handily throughout, showing a willing attitude in the home straight to prevail by a short head in a sustained duel with runner-up Green Falcon

Bred by N Hartery, juvenile colt Baltic Fleet was purchased by his trainer for €75,000 from the Arqana May Breeze-Up Sale. He is the third foal out of the Listed-placed Sea The Stars mare Duchess Of Danzig.

In the very next race, fellow colt Kalokalo made light work of his opposition in the mile nursery. Making all the running, the Charlie Hills-trained juvenile was asked to quicken with just over two furlongs to run and ran on strongly to win by a comfortable length and three-quarters.

Bred by Blue Sky Bloodstock, Kalokalo was also a €75,000 purchase, with McKeever Bloodstock and Charlie Hills buying the yearling out of the Goffs Orby Book 1 Sale. He is out of the unraced Dansili mare Still Sky, who is herself out of the Group-winning Nayef mare Sparkling Bloom.

Space Blues has made an excellent start to his stud career, becoming the fastest stallion from the Dubawi line to sire a G1 winner when his son Power Blue landed the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh. He is also the sire of the four-time G2-placed colt Do Or Do Not and Listed-placed filly Polly Shelby
