Two new Stakes winners for Too Darn Hot

Fitzella and Emit impress with victories at Ascot and Gowran Park

Juvenile filly Fitzella became a new Group winner for her impressive young sire Too Darn Hot with a comfortable victory in the six-furlong G3 Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot, before Emit became the sire's second new Stakes winner on the day with a game success in the Listed Marble City Stakes at Gowran Park on Saturday, 26 July.

Having broken well from the gates, the Hugo Palmer-trained Fitzella blazed a trail down the centre of the Ascot straight and was not for catching, going on to win by a length under Oisin Murphy.

Bred by Parks Farm Stud, Fitzella was a £170,000 purchase at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale. Out of Listed winner Shamandar (Exceed And Excel), she is a half-sister to the Stakes-placed sprinter Admiral Nelson.

Too Darn Hot has now sired the winners of 12 two-year-old Group races in Europe within his first three crops. Comparing to all other stallions at the same stage of their career since 2000, he has three more than his nearest pursuers Frankel, Havana Grey and Mehmas.

Just over an hour later, three-year-old colt Emit showed a determined attitude at Gowran Park, rallying up the inside rail having been headed, to win by half a length going away in the mile-and-a-half contest.

Already placed in Group company, the Flaxman Stables homebred is a half-brother to Stakes winner Norwalk. His dam Light Of Joy (Kitten's Joy) was herself Stakes-placed, and is out of a sister to brilliant G1 Oaks winner Light Shift.

Too Darn Hot has sired 26 individual Stakes winners, with three coming at the highest level. In Europe, Fallen Angel and Hotazhell both scored in G1 company, while in Australia, the brilliant Broadsiding landed four top-level victories, and is now an exciting addition to the Darley Australia roster.
