Third Eclipse victory for Dubawi

Delacroix just denies Ombudsman in Sandown thriller

Delacroix, a three-year-old son of Dubawi, landed his first G1 victory in a thrilling renewal of the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown. Never looking happy in the race, he dropped to the rear in the straight before being galvanised for a late run by Ryan Moore to just get the better of Ombudsman (Night Of Thunder) in the shadow of the post.

He now has an impressive record of nine starts, five wins and three seconds including a victory over Stanhope Gardens (Ghaiyyath) in the G3 Autumn Stakes and nose defeat by Hotazhell (Too Darn Hot) in the G1 Futurity Trophy.

Bred by the Tepin Syndicate, he is out of the great mare Tepin, winner of six G1’s including the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot and the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Keeneland. Tepin has already produced a G1 winner through last seasons Prix de Royallieu heroine Grateful.

Dubawi has sired 18 Black Type winners in 2025. They are led by G1 winners Lead Artist and Walk Of Stars as well as Group winners Rebel’s Romance, Imperial Emperor, Dubai Future, and Zanzoun
