Rebel's Romance lands a ninth G1 victory

Globetrotting son of Dubawi much the best in G1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic

Two-time G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf winner Rebel’s Romance made a victorious return to the U.S. with an effortless victory in the G1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic at Aqueduct on Saturday, 27 September.

The globetrotting son of Dubawi, under a snug hold from jockey Frankie Dettori, sat just outside of the leader Redistricting through an opening quarter mile in :24.78. Rebel’s Romance took the lead after the first half-mile, then continued to gallop at a comfortable pace through moderate splits from there.

Let loose on the far turn, Rebel’s Romance opened up even further on his rivals, eventually crossing the wire three-and-a-half lengths in front of Redistricting.

Rebel’s Romance is out of the Street Cry mare Minidress, making him a half-brother to G1 winner Measured Time.

Rebel’s Romance is one of no fewer than 27 Black Type winners this year for Dubawi, who has also sired G1 winners Notable Speech, Delacroix, Lead Artist and Walk Of Stars in 2025.
