Rebel’s Romance lands his eighth G1

The son of Dubawi wins the Grosser Preis von Berlin for the second time

The incredible globetrotter Rebel’s Romance landed his eighth victory at the highest level when winning the Grosser Preis von Berlin over a mile and a half at Hoppegarten on Sunday, 10 August, bringing up Dubawi’s 250th Stakes win for Godolphin alone.

Ridden by Billy Loughnane, Rebel’s Romance was placed handily throughout the contest and was not for catching when asked for his finishing effort inside the final two furlongs, giving his rider a first victory at G1 level.

The Godolphin homebred has amassed over £11 million in prize money and became Godolphin’s most prolific Group winner with his 14th victory at that level. Rebel’s Romance is out of the Street Cry mare Minidress, making him a half-brother to G1 winner Measured Time.

Dubawi has now registered four individual G1 winners in 2025, and 21 individual Stakes winners. Just yesterday, his juvenile daughter Dance To The Music - a full sister to three-time G1 winner Space Blues, took the G3 Sweet Solera Stakes and remained unbeaten.
