First-season sire Space Blues added another new winner to his record on Tuesday, 19 August when his daughter Queen Tamara outbattled odds-on favourite Jedaal to land the seven-furlong maiden at Chepstow.
Harry Charlton’s charge raced in second position under Trevor Whelan, before being asked for her effort two furlongs out. Taking the lead inside the final furlong, she kept on superbly to win by a length and a quarter.
Queen Tamara was bred by Roundhill Stud and is out of the Lope de Vega mare Countess Vega, now dam of two winners from two foals to race. They are from the family of outstanding Champion Serena’s Song.
Space Blues has enjoyed a terrific start to his stud career, becoming the first Dubawi line stallion to sire a G1 winner following Power Blues’ brilliant victory in the Phoenix Stakes. He is also sire of the multiple G2-placed Do Or Do Not, plus the very promising Stellar Sunrise, who landed a £60,000 maiden at Glorious Goodwood.
