Leading sire Night Of Thunder continued his tremendous year on Friday, 26 September when his very exciting son Zeus Olympios remained unbeaten with an impressive victory in the G2 Joel Stakes at Newmarket.
The Karl Burke-trained colt was always prominent under Clifford Lee and taking the lead inside the final two furlongs, quickened brilliantly to win going away by two and a quarter lengths from Opera Ballo (Ghaiyyath).
Zeus Olympios broke his maiden back in January at Kempton, before posting a five-and-a-half-length win at Thirsk next time out. He successfully stepped up to Pattern company in the G3 Superior Mile Stakes earlier this month.
He was bred by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid and is out of the Stakes-placed Siyouni mare Rhea, herself a half-sister to G2 winner Teresita.
Night Of Thunder, currently atop the leading sires’ table in the UK and Ireland, is also sire this year of Ombudsman, the world’s highest rated older horse, plus Classic winner Desert Flower.
Also on Friday, Dubawi recorded a new Group winner when his three-year-old daughter Silent Love ran out the determined winner of the G3 Princess Royal Stakes.
Making all under Billy Loughnane, the Charlie Appleby-trained filly set steady fractions throughout the 12-furlong contest. She was hard pressed for the final three furlongs but refused to be passed and stuck to her task superbly to win by a neck.
Silent Love was unraced at two, but has now won her last three starts including the Listed Chalice Stakes on Newmarket’s July course last time out.
A homebred for Godolphin, Silent Love is out of the Stakes-winning New Approach mare Hadith and is from the family of Dubawi’s outstanding four-time G1 winner Lord North.
Silent Love is one of no fewer than 27 Black Type winners this year for Dubawi, who has also sired G1 winners Notable Speech, Rebel’s Romance, Delacroix, Lead Artist and Walk Of Stars in 2025.
