First-season sire Space Blues continued his good form when his daughter Harlequin Angel showed a great attitude to win over seven furlongs on Newmarket’s July course on Saturday, 9 August.
Making all the running under Billy Loughnane, Harlequin Angel was challenged inside the final furlong but showed a tenacious attitude to hold off all challengers, winning by a head.
Bred by Ballyhimikin Stud and Skymarc Farm, Harlequin Angel was a 40,000gns purchase at the Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale. She is the tenth foal out of Listed-winning sprinter Wrong Answer (Verglas), making her a half-sister to the classy Dark Angel mare Internationalangel.
Space Blues has enjoyed an excellent start to his career at stud, with nine individual winners. Among them is the G2-placed colt Power Blue, and Stakes-placed filly Polly Shelby.
