Marksman Queen earns second straight Stakes victory in G3 Robert G. Dick Memorial Stakes

Daughter of Dubawi goes wire-to-wire in winning at Delaware Park

Marksman Queen earned her first Graded Stakes victory much the same way she captured her Stakes debut in her previous start – by leading at every point of call and having enough left in the tank late to hold on for a head victory in the G3 Robert G. Dick Memorial Stakes at Delaware Park on Saturday, 5 July.

A compact field of five fillies and mares went to the post in the 11-furlong turf contest, with Marksman Queen going off as the favorite. The daughter of Dubawi didn’t disappoint, always racing comfortably throughout, with plenty left in the tank to hold off the late challenge of Spanish Eyes to get the win.

Marksman Queen was bred in Great Britain by her owner, Cayton Park Stud and is out of the Graded Stakes-winning Touch Gold mare, Sharp Susan. Winner of the G2 Lake Placid Stakes during her racing career, Sharp Susan is also the dam of Oh Susanna (by Street Cry), Horse of the Year and Champion three-year-old filly in South Africa and Signore Fox (by Exceed And Excel), winner of the G3 Star Kingdom Stakes in Australia. The immediate family also boasts several G1 winners including Spring At Last, Sharp Lisa, and Bien Bien.

Dubawi has sired 18 Black Type winners in 2025. They are led by G1 winners Delacroix, Lead Artist and Walk Of Stars as well as Group winners Rebel’s Romance, Imperial Emperor, Dubai Future, and Zanzoun.
