First-season sire Space Blues looks to have another exciting prospect on his hands, following the decisive victory of his son Stellar Sunrise over six furlongs at Goodwood on Tuesday, 29 July.
Always prominent under Oisin Murphy, the Andrew Balding-trained colt was asked for his effort once inside the final two furlongs and dominated his rivals to win by a length and a quarter.
Bred by Carmel Stud, Stellar Sunrise is out of the Stakes-placed Invincible Spirit mare Herecomesthesun, from the immediate family of G1 winner Folk Opera and Hong Kong superstar Romantic Warrior.
Earlier in the afternoon, fellow Space Blues colt Do Or Do Not added yet more Black Type to his record when third in the G2 Vintage Stakes. He has previously finished second in both the G2 Coventry and G2 July Stakes and is surely a Black Type winner in waiting.
Space Blues has made a very strong start with his first crop of runners, also siring G2 placegetter Power Blue and Stakes-placed filly Polly Shelby.
