Impressive new Stakes winner for Night Of Thunder

Ryka makes the trip to France worthwhile with victory in the Listed Prix Panacée

Night Of Thunder’s three-year-old daughter Ryka made light work of the Listed Prix Panacée over 2,400m at Toulouse on Wednesday, 1 October.

Settled in mid-division, the David O’Meara-trained filly was asked for an effort on the home turn and accelerated into the lead with 200m to run, scoring by a comfortable two and a half lengths at the line.

Bred by Lynchbages, Camas Park Stud & Summerhill Bloodstock, Ryka is the first foal out of the winning Golden Horn mare Tulip Fields, who herself is a three-parts sister to Stakes scorer Valletta, and a half-sister to G3 winner Veracity

Night Of Thunder has enjoyed an incredible season and currently sits atop the UK and Ireland sires’ table with a lead just shy of £500,000 over Wootton Bassett, ahead of Night Of Thunder’s own sire Dubawi in third.

The sire’s impressive list of winners this season includes G1 1,000 Guineas heroine Desert Flower, as well as Ombudsman, the highest-rated older horse in the world following his victories in the G1 St James’s Palace Stakes and G1 Juddmonte International. Just last weekend, two exceptional unbeaten colts added another victory to their CVs with three-year-old Zeus Olympios taking the G2 Joel Stakes, and juvenile Bow Echo landing the G2 Royal Lodge Stakes, both at Newmarket.
