G1 glory for son of Dubawi

Delacroix is an impressive winner of the G1 Irish Champion Stakes

Dubawi’s exceptional three-year-old colt Delacroix powered home to win his second G1 in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday, 13 September.

Having jumped well from the stalls, the Aidan O’Brien-trained Delacroix was taken back and settled in rear, showing a blistering turn of foot with just over two furlongs to go, powering home to win by a length, with the high-class Anmaat taking second and Shamardal’s Royal Champion coming home in third.

Bred by the Tepin Syndicate, Delacroix is out of the exceptional mare Tepin, who was the winner of six G1’s including the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot. Tepin is also the dam of G1 Prix de Royallieu winner Grateful

The greatest stallion to ever stand in Britain, Dubawi has enjoyed another exceptional year, with 26 individual Stakes winners so far, including the globetrotting hero Rebel’s Romance, who gained an eight victory in G1 company in the Grosser Preis von Berlin. Dubawi’s ever-growing list of sons at stud received another boost recently, when his three-time G1 winner Space Blues sired his own first G1 winner, Power Blue in the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh.
