Fair Angellica caps brilliant weekend for Harry Angel

The four-year-old filly won the G3 Sceptre Fillies’ Stakes at Doncaster

Harry Angel’s four-year-old daughter Fair Angellica brought up a third Stakes winner on the weekend for her sire with victory in the G3 Sceptre Fillies’ Stakes over seven furlongs on the final day of Doncaster’s St Leger meeting.

Travelling in touch with the leaders, Fair Angellica challenged inside the final furlong, running on to lead in the final strides to record a short-head victory over Night Of Thunder filly Bright Thunder. The Richard Hughes-trained filly has now won three times in Stakes company, with this being her first victory at Group level.

Bred in Great Britain by Jarosa Stud, Fair Angellica is the first foal out of the Lawman mare Fair’s Fair, whose dam Winning Sequence, is a half-sister to Prix Saint-Alary winner, Coquerelle.

Harry Angel’s brilliant weekend started with Arkansaw Kid landing back-to-back editions of the G2 Bobbie Lewis Quality at Flemington, before Watchme Win took the Listed W.H. Wylie Handicap at Morphettville.

A sire in red-hot form, his sons Private Harry and War Machine have both scored in Stakes company in Australia in recent months, and he returns to the southern hemisphere this year at Darley’s Kelvinside farm for a service fee of $66,000.
