Elmonjed wins Listed Garrowby Stakes

Son of Blue Point lands York’s feature sprint

Elmonjed, a four-year-old son of Blue Point, landed his first Black Type victory on Sunday, 7 September when winning the Listed Garrowby Stakes. In a race marred by the fall of favourite Almeraq, he battled gamely for a head success.

Owned and bred by Shadwell, Elmonjed is a son of the Oasis Dream mare Naafer, who had already produced two Stakes performers in Khanjar and Pinafore.

Blue Point has now sired 21 Stakes winners including Classic hero Rosallion, and leading sprinters Big Evs and Kind Of Blue. Both Rosallion (G1 Prix du Moulin) and Kind Of Blue (G1 Haydock Sprint Cup) ran excellent races this weekend to finish narrow seconds.
