Another winner for first-season sire Space Blues

Crafty Blue posts a gutsy victory at Southwell

Space Blues’ successful first season continued on Monday, 29 September when his daughter Crafty Blue battled superbly to land the seven-furlong Novice at Southwell.

Breaking well under Sean Levy, Crafty Blue was prominent throughout and saw off several challengers including the fast-finishing Izzn’t She Hot (Too Darn Hot) to win by a short head.

Owned and bred by Con Harrington, Crafty Blue is out of the Group-placed Mastercraftsman mare Crafty Madam, a half-sister to G1-winning sprinter Profitable.

Space Blues has made a tremendous start to his stud career, becoming the quickest stallion from the Dubawi line to sire a G1 winner thanks to Power Blue’s victory in the Phoenix Stakes – in the fastest time for over 20 years.

He is also sire of the Coventry Stakes second Do Or Do Not and the Stakes-placed winner Polly Shelby.
